This large village house is situated at the end of a quite lane, next to a primary school and would make a great holiday home in this traditional, clean and tidy village.
The living spaces amount to 100 m2 and the garden (with the oven) is about 50m2. There are two separate areas, the main area has a large living room divided by a wooden panel with door, a separate kitchen and a large high ceiling back room. The second area is 2 large rooms – the one leads into the other.
One enters through a metal gate into the garden. On the left is an outdoor, wood burning oven and, on the right, a staircase leading up to the terrace with lovely, uninterrupted village views.
Directly ahead is the entrance to what was the main living area. One first enters a large living room that is divided by a wooden panel with a door, this was probably so that the one area could be used as a bedroom. Something typical of a Cretan home. The kitchen is accessed from here and has a large fireplace and window looking out into the garden.
At the back of the house is another very large room with a high ceiling that was used as a storage area. This can easily be renovated into two spacious bedrooms, and the high ceiling allows for a mezzanine that could be used as extra living or storage space.
The other part of the property is accessed from the garden and is made up of two rooms. Upon entering this area, one sees a smaller front room with a basin in the corner, used to feed the family animals. At the back is the entrance to another large room with a high ceiling. This was used to store the hay in the winter. This area can be renovated and used as a comfortably sized guest house.
There is ample parking directly outside the property. Within a couple of minutes’ walk is the bakery and little supermarkets plus a choice of tavernas. Neapolis with the hospital, civic services, tavernas, supermarkets etc. is within a 5 minute drive. Aghios Nikolaos is at 10 kms and Heraklion airport at 50 kms.
